1. I’m a huge fan of custard-like substances, lol. So when I saw this recipe on a friend’s Facebook feed, I immediately took a screenshot and patiently waited for the day when that delectable treat would be mine.

The recipe is for Buttermilk Pie  by Holly Capron at This Side of the Fence (who has a lot of awesome recipes). I changed mine up just a tad by adding ½ tsp of vanilla extract instead of ¼ tsp. Below is the original recipe:

    1¾ cup sugar

1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup) @ room temperature

    3 large eggs

    ¼ tsp. vanilla extract

    Pinch of salt

    3 T. all purpose flour

    1 C. buttermilk

    1 9” pie shell, unbaked

    1. Cream together the sugar and butter till well blended.

    2. Beat in the eggs on at a time, until the mixture is nice and smooth.3.

    3.  Add the vanilla, salt and flour.

    4. Beat in the buttermilk until well-combined.

      6. Fill the pie shell with the buttermilk mixture just to the top of the shell (discard remaining or pour into an ungreased custard cup)

      7. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour 10 minutes.

      8. Remove from oven and let set until almost cooled before serving. Store covered in fridge.

This was a hit with both me and my fiancé. It was delicious, melt-in-your-mouth experience. I’ll definitely be storing this recipe for future use!!!2015-09-13 14.36.11_edited
